Commitment Theory

The Tension

We are not built for the world we have created. This is the paradox of humanity. Our capacity built systems that exploit the very ambition that created them. The hardware that built society—our biological and cognitive systems—cannot be easily upgraded to keep pace with the complexity of modern life.

So what about our software?

We didn't build this world with just our hardware; that's not what makes us special. Our software is our real differentiator: it's the language we use to transfer concepts and the commitments we make using that language. Our language and our commitments define our culture—our shared mental models.

The Solution

With a shared language, internally consistent and simply shared, we can build effective cultural operating systems for any pursuit. This would allow any group—including the individual—to pursue their ambition with confidence.

Commitment Theory provides this foundational language (the ontology and syntax) for building those systems.

Shared language → Shared commitments → Shared culture.

The Mission

Our mission is to revolution ambition.

The Foundation

We are working toward establishing a non-profit foundation to ensure the theory remains free and open to everyone.
